The Android SDK 0.9 beta r1 [August 18, 2008] has been released and is available for download.

OpenHandsetDevelopers' directory contains the state of the art of public available applications for the Android platform.  You can evaluate the quality of the released applications and the potentialities of the Android platform by testing the applications on the Android emulator.

It is available a Fedora8-based VmWare virtual appliance image from the Open Handset Developers community for developing Java/Android applications.
This appliance has been designed for developers who want a simple, fast and easy way to work or just to experiment with Java/Android platform taking advantage of a fresh ready-to-use and powerful development environment. All the work to set up SDKs and IDE packages within a Linux platform has been already carried out for you.
