On November 5th, 2007 the Open Handset Alliance officially announced ANDROID, a new open source platform for mobile devices.
At the moment nobody can say exactly how much innovative this new platform is from a technical point of view and which relevant impacts could have on the mobile communications market. For sure, the Open Handset Alliance already consists in a very good mix of mobile operators, chips and devices manufactures and the most innovative company of the Internet world (Google). In my view, the companies of this alliance and the communities of the open source paradigm can set up the appropriate mix of skills, knowhow and forces to boost the mobile communications market and to enter in a new world, charachterized by new and better devices supporting new and better applications and services for users staying outside their home.
The OpenHandsetDevelopers.com site would offer a home to a new community of developers and technical experts interested in ANDROID, in future initiatives from the Open Handset Alliance and, more in general, in the world of applications and services developers for the mobile communications market.

Since few days from the start of sellings, the people's temperature for the Android G1 (a.k.a. HTC Dream) is becoming very HOT. The demonstration of this is that numerous offerings for no contract (and also unlocked) G1 are currently running on ebay, with prices rising up very quickly.
So, here we are, the waiting is over: the day after the press conference arranged by T-Mobile at new York, we can enjoy the official images and videos of the first "gphone" or, if you prefer, the first phone powered by Android, the platform proposed by Google and the Open Handset Alliance. After the first impressions coming from the brillant show effectively arranged by the USA division of T-Mobile for the press and for all the techno fans which populate the online world, we can take a break and reflect on the impact of what was officially announced.
